Closing the loop – with Krones
When it comes to beverage containers, PET is a frontrunner in terms of a closed loop – and the material of choice for beverage bottles. Krones recognised this trend early, launching its first stretch-blow moulder already in 1997. Since 2002, Krones has delved into the world of recycling, selling its first system in 2008. In 2018, MHT joined the Group with its competence in preform moulds, but one important piece of the puzzle was still missing – until 2024, when Netstal became a member of the Group. Now, Krones can offer the complete portfolio for PET: from injection moulding of preforms, to stretch-blow moulding and bottling of PET bottles, all the way to recycling of plastics such as PET.
At drinktec 2025, Jochen Forsthövel from the Plastics Technology team at Krones discussed the evolution of this closed loop and, importantly, how beverage companies benefit from this comprehensive portfolio within the Krones Group.
drinktec 2025 – a wow effect that still lasts
Impressed faces and a long-lasting “Wow!” – this was the reaction of many of the approximately 60,000 visitors from more than 140 countries who stopped by the Krones stand for the first time during drinktec 2025.
Which is hardly surprising: over 10,000 square metres of exhibition space, more than 65 exhibits and display items, and a total of 730 square metres of LED areas truly invited visitors to marvel and once again underlined the industry presence of the entire Krones Group.
